Your Bio

Luke is an avid amateur photographer that is very critical of his photo work. He is known to choose only 4 or 5 pictures out of several hundred to share with the world. Luke currently shoots with a Canon Rebel XSi. He also occasionally uses a Panasonic DCM-FZ7, mostly for video. He has previously captured breathtaking shots with the Canon Powershot A520 (which died and is now in many pieces in a plastic bag) and even captured a shot that earned a betterphoto.com editor's choice with a cheap Mercury 3MP camera.

Slane, Ireland : As you climb the hill from the tiny parking lot up to the ruins you cross through what appears to be an active pasture for cows. I don't believe we saw anybody else up there on the day that we went. I can't believe such a unique and historic place exists just outside of Dublin and it wasn't overrun with tourists. I used the opportunity to capture some breathtaking photographs of the cemetery, and the remains of the church and college on the site. Hill of Slane St. Patrick lit the first Paschal Fire in Ireland here in 433 A.D., according to legend. The High King Laoighire, who saw this fire (symbolising Christianity) from his palace at Tara, regarded it as an act of defiance against his own pagan gods. Laoighire remained a pagan, but allowed his subjects to be converted to Christianity by St. Patrick. All galleries and images are copyright © 2012 Lucas Jessee.
